Platte Valley Medical Clinic to Host First COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for Patients

Platte Valley Medical Clinic, a division of Kearney Regional Medical Center, will host its first offsite COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Tuesday, January 26th at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds. The clinic is for current Platte Valley Medical Clinic patients identified in the Phase 1B group. Patients meeting criteria for vaccination have been contacted by Platte Valley Medical Clinic to set up their appointment.

The vaccine is being provided by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. Approximately 200 doses of the Moderna vaccine will be administered. Another 275 doses were administered last weekend during an after-hours clinic for patients 75+ with comorbidities.

“It is exciting to be able to see the vaccine starting to be administered to our patients,” said Tom McLeod, Administrator of Clinic & Provider Services. “Since last March, our staff have taken the lead in setting the standard of care for COVID-19 including providing comprehensive evaluations, testing, and therapeutic treatments. Adding vaccination is the next step in the process in caring for our patients and our community.”

As vaccine supplies continue to increase, Kearney Regional Medical Center is looking forward to being able to assist with public vaccination.

“Nebraska has been mentioned as one of the top ten states in the nation for efficiently getting the vaccine out,” said Shanna Stofer, COVID-19 Incident Commander for Kearney Regional Medical Center. “While our vaccine allocation numbers are not as high as we hoped, we are moving forward quickly.”
